On 7 February 2015, colleagues of Shanghai office, Hangzhou office and Intellectual Property team attended 2015 Guantao Shanghai & Hangzhou Intellectual Property Annual Conference and Internet Forum. Zhang Liping, a senior ex-judge of IP tribunal, Zou Jun, head of Hangzhou office, Liang Chaoyu and Zhao Weikang, both partners of IP area made keynote speeches. Gan Weimin, partner specializing in IP area hosted forum. Some clients and lawyers on IP and Internet attended this forum.

Zhang Lijun spoke on 2014 Hangzhou IP cases and preservation and notarization ofevidence. Following latest judicial practice, the speech is highly detailed and practical, especially regarding notarization in Internet IP cases.

Liang Chaoyu spoke on Internet’s inspiration for IP. Mr. Liang believed Internet poses a great challenge for tradition IP protection. On the other hand, Internet IP protection is a new area and brings new business chances for lawyers.

Zhao Weikang talked about Internet and professional concept of IP lawyers. Mr. Zhao started with ant's collective intelligence and led to human's remarkable collective intelligence and its impact on Internet. Drawing from personal experience and observation, he spoke about how to handle collective intelligence, individual intelligence, community interest, connection and reputation, delivering an inspiring and thought-provoking speech.

Zou jun spoke on a forward-looking theme-online legal service. Mr. Zou believed Internet economy’s necessity and impetus. With infrastructure and demographic dividend, China’s e-commerce is leading the world. With new government and improved rule of law, China’s internet industry has a bright future. Nevertheless, online legal service still can’t afford to be too optimistic. Guantao should seize the opportunity and strive to lead in this new area. Mr. Zou believed Guantao lawyers should study Internet and related laws and perform professional and timely legal services for companies, legislatures and government agencies. Hangzhou has a great development environment for Internet companies and is the engine of Chinese Internet. Besides, in early 2015, Hangzhou government initiated "Project One" of developing information economy and intelligence economy. Consequently, Hangzhou office has unique advantages for online legal service and thus should take a leading role in this aspect.
