Guantao and UK-based international law firm Ashurst renewed their alliance agreement in Sydney on 19 May 2015, marking the first renewal of the strategic alliance established between the two firms since 2008.
This renewal will see a stronger collaboration between the two firms, with a focuson the areas of, among others,insolvency and restructuring, financial derivatives, intellectual property, energy&infrastructure, and corporate and M&A, in a bid to jointly expand their markets and to create increased value for their clients, apart from solidifying the trust and commitment between the two firms built, and carrying on the positive results achieved, during the course of their strategic cooperation over the last six years.
Ashurst is a prominent international law firm with a strong network of offices across Europe, Middle East, the US, Asia Pacific, Australia and other major international financial centres. With 12 offices spread across the country, Guantao is one of the pioneer full-service law firms in China. This strategic alliance will enable the two firms to capitalise on each other’s unique strengths at both the international and domestic levels.
On the afternoon of 5 June 2015, Guantao Sydney Office's first road show, Chinese Companies' investment in Australia-Introducation to Guantao Sydney was held at Hangzhou’s Hyatt Hotel. A great number of companies, industry associations, chambers of commerce, securities companies, media employees and lawyers attended this event.
Huang Peng, Guantao partner, hostes this event. At the start of meeting, Cui Liguo, managing partner, introduced Guantao’s global operating and developing strategy and the new Sydney office. Ma Kewei, head of Sydney Office, delivered a keynote speech on opportunities and challenges for Chinese companies on investment in Australia. Then, Bill, senior consultant for Guantao and director of LWPG law firm, analyzed Australian legal environment for investment and related guiding cases. In the end, Zou Jun, director of Hangzhou office, introduced China’s new regulations on overseas investment and salient points.
This conference is marked for its targeted theme, diversified perspective and in-depth analysis. Three speakers delivered comprehensive introduction and analysis of Chinese Companies' investment in Australia. The conference ended with heated Q&A. The second and third road show will be held respectively in Guangzhou and Tianjin.
