Jackson Woo is a consultant of Guantao & Chow. He holds a Master’s degree in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford and was awarded 2008 World Outstanding Chinese Award by the United World Chinese Association and Honorary Doctor Degree from The University of West Alabama. He qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales, Hong Kong SAR and Australia. Jackson is also a China-Appointed Attesting Officer appointed by the Ministry of Justice, PRC. He is an Honorary Director of Tsinghua University and a Practising Solicitor Member on the panel of the Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal in Hong Kong. Jackson has over 25 years’ experience in corporate finance, investment banking and commercial law. He has been involved in the development of China business since the early 1990s and has extensive experience in listed H-share companies, Red Chip companies, PRC private enterprises, as well as mergers and acquisitions, restructurings involving PRC enterprises. He was a partner in the corporate finance department of Woo, Kwan, Lee & Lo, and a founding partner of Jackson Woo & Associates, which specialized in corporate finance and later merged with Ashurst Hong Kong, a leading international law firm headquartered in London.
Mr. Woo is well-versed in investment banking/corporate finance transactions, having served as an Executive Director and a Board Member of N M Rothschild & Sons (Hong Kong) Limited (“Rothschild”) from 1999 to 2004, where he also served as the Co-Head of Greater China, investment banking division. Currently he is the Chief Executive Officer of Challenge Capital Management Limited, an investment bank established in Hong Kong in1988. Mr. Woo is currently licensed by the Securities and Futures Commission (“SFC”) to carry on licensed activities on Types 1 (Dealing in securities), 2 (Dealing in futures contracts), 4 (Advising on securities), 6 (Advising on corporate finance), and 9 (Asset management) regulated activities. Mr. Woo is a member of Takeovers and Mergers Panel of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong and Takeovers Appeal Committee of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong. He previously served as the member of the Public Shareholders Group of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong. In addition, Mr. Woo is a member of Listing Review Committee of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.
Mr. Woo is currently a board member of Henderson Land Development Company Limited and China Pacific insurance (Group) Co. Ltd., and was previously a board member of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China Limited and Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited.
